Pray for Your Country - MybodyMyworship Prayer Challenge Newsletter

Dear Christian Sisters & Brothers,

Consider the woman at the well. She challenged Jesus about where to worship because she did not know all of her history.

You can read the history of the Samaritans in Day 21 of Worship to End Abortion: Your Prayer Guide

Do we know all of our history?

Pray

The following prayers are based on John 4:7-45; Philippians 2:3; James 1:5, 4:7; 1 John 4:8; Exodus 20:5-6; Ezekiel 18: 1-4, 20; Matthew 18:6; Romans 5:18, Ephesians 6:13-14

Lord,

The woman at the well got Samaritan history partially right, but she did not know all that You wrote in The Law and in the history books. Let us be different. Let us not be ignorant of Your ways or our own history of both illegal and legal abortion.

Lord, we and our ancestors have allowed sin, and we’re sorry. We allowed Margaret Sanger’s advancement of birth control then hormonal birth control, which aborts babies before we even know we have conceived. For this, we apologize, Lord.

We allowed Sanger to target minorities and today in New York City more Black babies are aborted than born alive. For this, we apologize, Lord.

We point at Sanger’s racist history, but we neglect to search our own hearts for times when we have not regarded others more than ourselves. For this, we apologize, Lord.

We complain about the high abortion rates among Black and Hispanic Americans, but we do not take responsibility for the governmental programs that keep people in poverty or encourage single motherhood. For this, we apologize, Lord.

We believed Alfred Kinsey’s research, Sexual Behavior in the Human Male and Sexual Behavior in the Human Female, which showed that homosexuality was much more prevalent than it actually was. For this, we apologize, Lord.

We paid for Playboy and other pornography, which exploits women. For this, we apologize, Lord.

We paid and are still paying women less for the same work, and it took us too long to create fair employment policies. For this, we apologize, Lord.

We did not support women and their children who were abandoned by their husbands, and even today we struggle to have equitable and safe resolutions in our divorce decrees. For this, we apologize, Lord.

We allowed the free sex movement, resulting in single motherhood and the desperation for safe, legal abortion. For this, we apologize, Lord.

In the 1960s, when NARAL said large numbers of women were dying from back-alley abortions, we believed them rather than checking the facts. For this, we apologize, Lord.

When NARAL campaigned against the Catholic church’s pro-life stance, The Church stood by rather than standing firm with our Christian sisters and brothers. For this, we apologize, Lord.

When Roe won her case against Wade and Doe won her case against Bolton, we did not succeed in creating a constitutional amendment to protect the rights of the pre-born. For this, we apologize, Lord.

We allowed Your name to be removed from public school and for sex education to be full of partial truths and void of scientific support. For this, we apologize, Lord.

We have allowed modern medicine to promote abortion, abortifacients, hormonal “treatment” for those who call themselves transgender, and sex reassignment surgeries, all of which take away our reproduction. For this, we apologize, Lord.

Forgive us, Lord, for allowing the lies of the enemy in the name of “love” to win over the truth of Your agape love. For this, we apologize, Lord.

We have allowed children to be molested by our church leaders in multiple denominations. We have allowed women to be sexually harassed in the workplace and in our churches. For this, we apologize, Lord.

Lord, forgive The Church for not following You and Your ways. Increase our knowledge and understanding. Give us wisdom. From this day forward, we choose to stand firm in the truth.

Show us how to follow Your examples of sharing the truth through love to all non-believers so that they would see You for who You are—for You are agape love.

Use new believers to bring all in their own communities to belief in Your love like the woman at the well brought her community to Christ and encourage us to mentor new believers so that they become disciples.

Prayer for 40 Days for Life

Lord,

Thank You for protecting the sidewalk counselors as they stand firm with the belt of truth, which holds all their armor in place.

Amen
